Another great round, close games with the highest deficit being two goals. Cable Jockeys coming from well behind to beat the Expendables, Fortinhos ending AGM’s unbeaten run, Chugglaz and Commsec fight it out in a 0-0 at the bottom and the Drama Queens climb to the top of the table after beating Power Rangers who were at the top prior to the round.Dont forget to enjoy some of the spectacular goals from the round on our face book site.If you’re not a friend allready make sure to add Futsal Homebush to you “best Friends” or even as a “Family” member

Game 1: Expendables vs Cable Jockeys: Coming back from a BYE , and missing three key players the Expendables stood up to the task starting off the game brilliantly, scoring 4 goals, two of them to Mick O’Hagan who lead by example, the other of them the best goal scored by any player in any division this season, check out this memorable cracker by Peter Haramis —-> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225161597538778 . Going into the second half 4-1 the Expendables seemed to relax a little, making many defensive and goalkeepers errors, The Cable Jockeys inspired by front man Dan O’Hanlan came back strong and hard. Dan getting a Milestone of 5 goals, 4 in the second half, the last one this cracker —>http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225392457515692 only a minute from full time to win the game 5-4.

Game 2. Fortinhos vs Any Given Monday:Any Given Monday slipped to it’s first loss of the season but the match statistics suggests otherwise. Any Given Monday had the majority of the possession but could not take advantage of it. Fortinhos scored the opening goal after less 2minutes after some lackluster defending by Daniel Hanna. The ball was lobbed into the path of play but Hanna thought the option of allowing the ball to bounce would favor him but the speed and acceleration from the opposition striker allowed him to go one step better than Hanna and giving hima clear opportunity to place the ball passed the jubilant Goalkeeper Boutros Hanna. The second goal may be perhaps more lucky than any other of the goals in that game. Fortinhos drilled the ball from 10 yards out, but a scene of obstruction on the goalkeeper was overlooked by the referee therefore making the the shot more difficult for the goalkeeper to comprehend, allowing it to float into the top left-hand corner of the net , click here to see that goal —->http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225185860869685. The score at the break was sitting at 2-0. The introduction of Matthew Masterson proved decisive for Any Given Monday which added more fluency to their passes and also a barrage of shots were fired allowing them to take advantage of the second half. Everything seemed right except for finding the net. Shabaka’s Runs added some optimism to the side as he became a major threat. The advantage of the height of Salib, Yassa, and Eskander didn’t prove much as they would prefer playing the ball down the flanks. Girgis proved a revelation to the side with his long balls which scared the defense but to no avail. Any Given Monday pushed vigorously until they were rewarded with a goal. Masterson, with his clinical approach to the game, fired the ball towards the bottom-left hand corner, leaving the goalkeeper clueless about how the ball even managed to be fired on target despite the committment of the defense in the box. There was plenty of time left in the match. Any Given Monday pushes forward, with a barrage of shots. Salib and a couple of opportunities but couldn’t find the net. Hanna played a pivotal role in opening up the defense. Suddenly a golden opportunity arrived when Eskander, in his second game, had the ball deflected off the line, then rattled the crossbar. “I though the ball was over the line for a sec, but was not to be” he added after the match. The final whistle was blown and a loss for Any Given Monday was very disappointing. Boutros Hanna added “he had the majority of play. We pushed, we pressed, everything seemed right but they did well to keep us out”. Masterson was bitterly disappointed with the outcome but has vowed that he will lead his team out next week in search of 3 points. “I am absolutely and utterly disappointed with the outcome. Despite having the best keeper in Sydney, our defense lacked efficiency and motivation and that proved vital during play”. He also added “we will be searching non other than 3 points next week”. Ghobrial has vowed to fight for a place in the first team after being a substantial figure on the bench, despite making numerous appearances during the match.Match report compliments of Peter Hanna.

Game 3- Chugglaz vs Commsec United – There was not much to report in this bottom of the table clash, it was a game that ended in a 0-0 draw, with pent of opportunities missed. This draw takes the Chugglaz to the bottom of the table after round 7 after the Gumbies climbed a place thanks to the BYE, certainly not the place for the Chugglaz to be as they have been unlucky playing out close games , either losing by the smallest of the margins or getting a draw. Both teams need to lift their game to have any chance of making the top 4 as the game is beginning to open up ..

Game 4- Drama Queens – Power Rangers –

1st Vs 3rd, the leading goal scorer vs. the best attack in the comp, this was the heavy weight title, the final fixture of the evening and well and truly… the main event. The Drama Queens started lively as usual and talisman Sam Griffith unloaded some early ‘expressions of interest’ on goal only for Power Rangers stopper Hakan to be equal to the task. As the half unfolded it became a shooting gallery. Sam G and co. raining in the shots from left, right and centre. The Power Rangers rear-guard stood firm and stopper Hakkan was impressive making a myriad of difficult saves look seemingly simple. At the other end, top scorer Adem was a force as per usual, however, tight defence and some unlucky touches meant the Power Rangers front man was only reduced to half chances. Half time and both sides seemed content going into the half not conceding.

The second half resumed and like the first, the shots continued to rain in from Drama Queens. Hakan continued to frustrate them with more great samves, and Adem also continued his assault on goal at the other end. As the half wore on though the game began opening up, and Mike Carter somehow found space down the left before ripping in a beautiful cross only for no one to be in the box. A spell of pressure and numerous corners in quick succession caused nervy moments at the other end, but it was a moment of opportunism that helped break the dead-lock. Hakkan’s short throw-in was picked off and the number-one was left stranded as the ball beat him for the first time from short range. This seemed to spur on the Queens and from the subsequent kick-off they hassled, haggled and pushed the Power Rangers defence back, ultimately forcing an error, ensuring Sam Griffith scored his usual goal with the simplest of tap-ins to seal a memorable victory and only Power Rangers 2nd loss for the campaign.Match report compliments of Ming Chang

Thanks all .. by the way we do have games next Monday . Public Holiday officially ends at 5pm

After 7 rounds WeSoy remain as the only undefeated team on Monday nights, this includes all divisions. WeSoy again winning in a tight one againt TTT FC. Karma continuing there come back run in a highly intense and exciting game against the Deez, Old foes Relax FC and the Fisherman fight it out, Relax FC getting their first win against the Fisherman in the their last 3 encounters. The Titans come back from a 4-0 deficit to 4-3 in a great comeback but did’nt have enough as Aroma win again.

Game 1. WeSoy vs TTT FC:WeSOY vs TTT was a game that pitted first place versus last place. On paper it may have looked like a mis-match however this game turned out to be anything but. WeSOY started off playing the game in their style, pushing forward hard and fast. TTT, who played without any reserves, played a very intelligent game sitting back and absorbing attacking spell after attacking spell from WeSOY and moving forward only to counter-attack. This resulted in a tight game all the way through and many were thinking it could have gone either way. WeSOY eventually broke the deadlock and into second half TTT looked all but out of steam, sitting further and further back into their own half as time went on. With all that posession, WeSOY eventually got a second goal to go up 2-0. Many thought at that point the match was over but TTT came with some surprisingly energetic offense and came very close to scoring on more than one occasion. The match ended with a free kick to TTT just outside the WeSOY penalty box, which Royce was able to convert to a goal. The match finishing 2-1 to WeSOY, and the scoreline truly reflecting the game. WeSOY remain unbeaten.Match report compliments of Joe Ciardi.

Game 2: Fisherman vs Relax FC: After fisherman getting the better of relax fc over their two prior meetings last season this game was shaping up to be a very tight affair and did not disapoint, relax fc came out looking very hungry early on and pressured fisherman high up the pitch and spoiled fishermans rhythm getting off to an early lead however that enthusiam fell off in the second half and the roles reversed as fisherman really had relax under the pump for long periods in the 2nd half and with a bit of luck could have found themselves well ahead however they did bring it back to 4-4 ,but in the end relax fc dug deep and ground out 2 goals at the end for victory in a very tight fought game. Click to see Some of the goals on facebook —-> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225175377537400 .Match report compliments Declan Fahy

Game 3, Karma vs Deez: The ingredients of a great game are that they are highly entertaining , very intense, physical at times are impacted by some controversial decisions . This game had them all, the finl score 4-2 to Karma could have easily been the other way around, some great futsal from both teams which produced some fine moments that are on facebook for all to enjoy —> this one a delightfully worked goal by the Deez —> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225430187511919

Game 4, Titans vs Aroma: Aroma looking to hammer Titans , getting a 4-0 lead in the first half they looked to take advantage of a messy looking Titans squad. As allways when you take the opponents lightly and start mucking around they tend to make come ambitious comebacks, as was the case with the Titans who scored 3 in a row and nearly got the equalizer in the dying stages but were saved by the Aroma keeper.. Final score 4-3 to Aroma who are on the heels of WeSoy.

Another great round , see you all next week.

More interesting twists and turns on the ladder after round 7. With HCN finally giving in and losing their first game of the season to Those Guys, every team has now tasted defeat. Black Eagles coming back to their sense after looking to fall into a slump, thumping Scuba, The Snipers frustrated by a young an enthusiastic Spray N Wipe going down after enjoying few rounds of success and Internationals much more content with their game downing a hapless Froosh who are still yearning for a win.

Game 1. Scuba FC vs Black Eagles:

The teams lined up last night with Scuba being favourites to make it 3 in a row following some great results the following two weeks with Black Eagles showing promise but lack of consistency with results since the seasons commencement. A lack of concentration/respect from scuba and an excellent display of counter attacking futsal seen the eagles take an astounding 4 goal opening lead within 10 minutes. Scuba looked shell shocked and could not manage to open their scoring account in the 1st half as the Black Eagles added another goal after their opening blitz to make it 5-0 at half time.

After the break, Scuba flew out of the gates with great one two combinations between Sinan and Julian. Despite a number of one on one opportunities, Sinan who has been in the mood of late could not capitalise, hitting the post and coming agonisingly close on a number of occasions. It took till mid way through second half for scuba to score, Julian Baumbach letting rip a shot —->http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225380047516933 after the Black Eagles sat off him allowing him too much room.

Celebrations were short lived as within 2 minutes, Black eagles re-established their 5 goal buffer to make it 6-1 through this goal —-> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225190180869253. Scuba was further rewarded for their attacking style with a great individual goal from Julian yet again —>http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225389030849368 , taking on the whole team and smacking it past the keeper to make it 6-2. However it was to be the Black eagles who would have the last say in the match with another display of how dangerous they are on the counter making the final score 7-2. Black Eagles playing their best game of the season. Match report compliments of Julian Baumbach

Game 2: Internationals vs Froosh: After what they would call a lousy start to the season, also suffering some unlucky moments the Internationals finally starting to show what they are really made of.PLaying a great team game, which i must say , seemed to lack in the weeks gone by the Internationals inserted their dominance in this game and had control all the way. Allthough Froosh at times looked to come back through some inspirational work from Gareth Catron who got his double, the Internationals never looked to be troubled. A double for both big front Man Nick Mawer and Ace play maker Farhad Fattahi ensured the three points and relief after some recent stressful times.

Game 3: Spray N Wipe vs Snipers:

This matchup was a midtable clash between two sides eager to prove they deserve to be in the top half of the ladder. The game began with a bang as spray n Wipe immediately peppered the Snipers goal with quality runs from the backcourt creating matchup problems for the Snipers defenders. Matthew Zappia stole a poor clearance and neatly slotted the ball in the corner of the goal for the game’s opener. Snipers responded with some pressure of their own and were rewarded as Mehmet Sanli hammered home from distance with the outside of his right foot, http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=225398327515105. The equaliser would be immediately cancelled out by Spray n Wipe, scoring straight from the ensuing kickoff. A delightful lob found Oskar Frankl behind the defensive line and he calmly tapped the ball past the goalie and into the net. The Third goal of the match was scored as David Astalosh intercepted a Snipers crosscourt pass, took a long touch and then scored from a tight angle one on one with the keeper. The teams went to the break at 3-1 and this is how the score would remain, as the game degenerated into a physical encounter. Both teams were creating chances in attacking positions however were wasteful and unable to convert any opportunities. The gallant Snipers fought till the final whistle but were unable to find the back of the net, final score Spray n Wipe 3 defeating Snipers 1.Match report compliment of David Astalosh

Game 4: Those Guys Again vs Hard Core Noobs:

The leaders HCN headed into the game as the favorites with a full strength squad. ‘Those Guys’ were missing influential Giuseppe & Eric Cho under a sickness cloud. The latter was able to make the bench late on.
The game stared off as a cagey affair, a nasty fall from first choice HCN defender ‘Tube’ landing awkwardly which required a reshuffle momentarily
‘Those Guys’ picked up the pace and opened the scoring from some neat interplay via Andrewfer neat tap-in from a David Ung setup.
An awkward moment from ‘Those Guys’ David Tse at the back playing the ball out during the 2nd half almost went punished by HCN but David Tse was able to recover.

A fantastic solo goal by Eric Cho —>http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225167924204812 , which seemed to create a buzz on the Futsal Homebush Facebook site gave ‘Those Guys’ a 2-0 lead. HCN almost got back into the game through a low drive by John Anh but Bien was down smartly to divert it away
It was soon 3-0 from a Ricardo Ruiz De Gamboa near post strike sealing a challenging game. Match report compliments of David Tse

Interesting round played in week six of the competition, AGM have been seriously slowed down after making a super start to the season being locked down to another 2-2 draw two weeks in succession by the competition dark horses Cable Jockeys, this time they were lucky only scoring in the final minute, the Gumbies delighted as they finally made a break through getting their first win of the season over Commsec Utd, the Chugglaz again losing their game by one goal to the impressive Drama Queens, maybe they should change their name to minus one? And finally the Fortinhos lost miserably to Power Rangers who for the first time in their history are at the top of the ladder …

game 1: Any Given Monday vs Cable Jockeys: Any Given Monday (AGM) and the Cable Jockeys played out a tough, scrappy game this week and ended up sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. With keeper Boutros still missing and key players Gobi and Shabaka adding to the absentee list, a patched up AGM, with Luke Girgis making a first ever appearance in goal, set out to hold on to their place at the top of the table. The Cable Jockeys began strongly with AGM struggling to cope with their quick counter-attacking game and they were soon a goal down after a defensive mix-up. AGM slowly grew into the game but too often their approach play was let down by a poor final ball. Both teams struggled for possession and there was little fluency to the game as the first half came to a close.

AGM started the second half with a sense of urgency and an equalizer came within a few minutes of the restart. After good defensive work, a quick counter sent Masterson on a mazy run down the right of the court and he finished with a sharp shot across goal which left the Cable Jockeys’ stand-in keeper little chance. AGM were growing in confidence but fatigue was beginning to set in and the fitter Cable Jockeys soon took advantage of gaps in AGM’s rearguard to put themselves in front once more. AGM lost possession with Markorios, Masterson and Eskander all pouring forward in search of a second goal, and the Cable Jockeys countered quickly to slot in a second goal of their own.

With time and energy running low, AGM’s play became more erratic as they desperately searched for an equalizer. A number of last ditch tackles and important stops from keeper Girgis kept the score at 2-1, while Markorious spurned a glorious chance to level the scores when he just failed to make contact with a ball into the box. With only two minutes remaining it fell to Masterson to equalize with a goal that was almost an exact replica of his first, the Cable Jockeys unable to contain his long range shooting. The game finished 2-2 and both teams had will have reason to be pleased with securing a hard fought draw. Match report compliments of Bishoy Eskander

Game 2: Gumbies vs Commsec United: Didnt get to watch this game though the result was a convincing win to the Gumbies , making it their first win of the season.

Game 3, Drama Queens vs Chugglerz:September 19 marked Chugglaz’ talisman Will Chen’s birthday. Chugglaz task was made a little easier with key drama queen players missing and some injury concerns to their already dimished side. None the less, the Drama Queens were out to spoil the party… and they ensured the birthday boy was in for a tough day at the office when some nice exchanges down the left hand side saw Chen stranded leaving a simple tap in for 1- 0. Drama Queens added more pain soon after with top scorer Sam Griffith doubling the score with a well taken free-kick. Chen may be a little angry with himself as on another day, that would probably have stayed out… The Queens however began to lose shape and direction towards the end of the first half and D. Wang inspired a mini-comeback; teasing, stepping and cunningly drawing in 3 defenders before passing to an open man who slotted home from close range clinically past the keeper for 2 – 1.

The Drama Queens are known for dropping into lulls (especially after half time) and they were exposed again as some sloppy defending and dogged determination with D. Wang heavily involved helped Chugglaz force the issue and make it 2 – 2. Nervous moments continued with little being created, birthday boy Chen’s long balls forward were consistently causing considerable issues at the back for the Drama Queens. However late in the half hero turned villian as D.Wang clattered into the back of an attacked streaming in the box. No complaints from anyone and the ref pointed to the spot. Golden Boot contender Sam Griffith sent Chen the wrong way for 3 - 2 and added another brace to his collection. The Chugglaz tried to launch several late attacks however the Drama Queens hung in to stay in finals contention… there was still time however for one last piece of action with Sam Griffith down the right finding half a yard inbetween 2 defenders, curling a glorious left footed goal bound effort towards the top corner only for Chen to deny the hat-trick seeker with an equally amazing diving fingertip save at full stretch. (Definitely one for the highlight reel… Happy bday Will!) Match report compliments of Ming Chang

Game 4: Fortinhos vs Power Rangers: The Fortinhos would probably agree with me in saying this was probably their most miserable loss ever … The scoreline was’nt so bad but it was the way they went down. They initially scored the first goal which was the only consolation of the game, they actually scored another one a bit later but that was into their own nets. Power Rangers first goal came from an impossible deflection from the corner line, which seemed to be out in the first place, then Men in Blue scored into their own goals and then copped a penalty which also seemed to be controversial … Just was’nt their night. On the brighter side the Power Rangers enjoying their first look down the table from up top, and it comes from an effortless win over one of their arch rivals ..

The Expendables were away with the BYE

That does it for this week … am looking forward to next weeks game …

Leaders Aroma fall from grace suffering their first loss of the season, Fisherman end their losing streak TTT continue their’s, a second half comeback not enough for McWarriors going down by a goal to Karma who much needed a win to stay in contention and in the last game WeSoy continue their unbeaten run defeating the Deez.

Game 1. Fisherman vs TTT .. A quite game really with not to much action, all though it was close the Fisherman looked comfortable and untroubled as they breezed their way to victory thanks to a double from John Jang ( this a sneaky one –> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222181234503481) and Robert Shin. A second half comeback was not enough as David Chu got a double for the T’s and Tom Dobbelsten seemed to trouble the Fisherman defense at times, this lob nearly a goal , click to view http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222182554503349. Final score is what mattered in the end and it said 4-3 to the Fisherman.

Game 2 . Mac Warriors vs Karma .. Karma starting off real hard and fast getting a quick 2 goal lead thanks to some great team work and some great finishing by Louis Amon. McWarriors seeming to be all over the place as the lead was extended to 3-0 at one stage. Mcwarriors attack kept hitting a defensive wall. Finally the Warriors get through with a goal from Jesse and seemed to be on a comeback.First half finished at that scoreline as the game settled down. Karma again drew first blood in the second half as it seemed they would well and truly run away with the game making the scoreline 5-1 at one stage, however were soon tired and the Warriors youth began to show as a comeback was on the cards. The Warriors scoring three consecutive goals were able to bring the score to a more respectable 5-4 but it wasnt enough in the end. Final score 5-4 to the Karma and a very valuable win.

Game 3- Aroma vs Relax FC: A very physical and exciting game as last seasons king pins went head to head, a very close game with Relax FC having the final laugh in a 3-2 victory. Aroma unable to really get a game happening as they tried to use their usual physical approach while Relax on the other hand played it calm and patient capitalizing on the Aroma errors. A double from Sercan Agar was the only goals that were scored for Aroma as they kept missing chance after chance much to the delight of Relax .. A second half collision between Aroma keeper and Relax FC player scarred the game which was otherwise had plenty of entertainment. Sami Ali Khan getting a double for his team and Besat Haliti the middle man getting a well deserved goal. FInal score 3-2 to Relax ..

Game 4- Deez vs WeSoy :Deez against WeSOY on paper suggested it was going to be a tight game. Only one place separated the two teams on the ladder, and only 3 goals separated their goal difference. The opening five minutes was exactly as expected with WeSOY throwing players forward with a few good scoring opportunities coming their way. Deez netted the game’s first goal, however WeSOY quickly answered bringing it to 1-1. The remainder of the first half went back and forth with some great opportunities going to both teams. The difference maker here was the WeSOY goal keeper Melad Najem who made some stunning saves to deny Deez any more goals before half time. Going into the break the score was 3-1 to WeSOY. Both teams started strong in the second half however it was Deez who showed the technical and fitness edge. Their give-and-go clearly got the better of the WeSOY defence on more than one occasion and allowed them 4 goals throughout the second half. Again, it was because of brilliant goal keeping from the WeSOY custodian that Deez did not score more. A video of one such save is up on the Futsal Homebush facebook page. In the end, WeSOY were able to secure two more crucial goals to give them just enough for the win. The final score 5-4 to WeSOY to set the stage for a very exciting match next time these two meet.

Another fine round of Futsal which saw some great contests, all games were close with the highest deficit being a 2 goal victory. Game of the night i believe was between Hard Core Noobs and Spray n Wipe. HCN won it in the end with a one goal difference however were very lucky as the Spray n WIpe hit the uprights to many times to count … Please see below for full match report.. Spray N WIpe were thus the biggers losers of the week falling a massive three places just for losing a game with a one goal difference. That should give you a good clue on just how close things are in this comp, reminiscence of last comp ..

In the other games Black Eagles on a losing streak as they go down to Those Guys who have just ended a 2 match loosing streak, David Tse reports for that game:

7pm : Those Guys vs Black Eagles: Both sides headed into the game knowing a win will leap them into the Top 4.
After a nervous opening by boths sides, just before half time ‘Those Guys’ were awarded a indirect free kick.
David Tse’s low drilled shot was guided into the back of the net by the faint touch from Ricardo de Gamboa to open the scoring. The second goal came from a deflected David Tse’s shot.
Black Eagles were awarded a debatable penalty which was cooly converted by Cagri. The penalty swung momentum to the Black Eagles, who were unlucky to not have equalised with a header going just wide and a shot hitting the cross bar. Tim Smith for ‘Those Guys’ pouced on the Black Eagles defender and cooly converted the 3rd goal for ‘Those Guys’ which secured the win. Reports compliments of David Tse

7:40pm HCN vs Spray N Wipe: The Matchup between Hard Core Noobs and Spray n Wipe was the battle to determine who would lead the competition into Round 6 and the game was closely contested until the final whistle. HCN got off to a flying start, working the ball with ease through the heart of the Spray n Wipe defence creating and finishing their first chance of the game – with the HCN player successfully converting his breakaway one on one with a powerful strike that sent the keeper the wrong way. The game was mainly played in midcourt as Spray n Wipe tried to strike back however it was HCN who looked more dangerous in front of goal. The second half sprung to life when a direct free kick was blasted by Francis Basbas for Spray n Wipe, the ball glancing down off the crossbar and into the net. With this injection of energy the match opened up and the chances were coming thick and fast as both sides forced good saves out of the keepers. In the final minutes HCN intercepted a clearance, with what appeared to be a 6th man on the court, he distributed the ball wide to Milos Popadic who struck the ball firmly into the top corner, netting to give the ladder leaders the lead late in the Match (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=222175477837390) as Spray n Wipe’s disagreement with the decision fell on deaf ears. The last chance in the Match would fall to Oskar Frankl as his attempt to score a dramatic equalizer was denied only by the woodwork (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=222177521170519). This meant HCN would hold on for a well deserved victory and consolidate their position at the top of the league table. Report compliments of David Astalosh

7:40pm Scuba FC vs Froosh: Froosh trying hard but still unable to get that win as Scuba FC cruise to a 4-2 victory thanks to a magnificent hat trick from Sinan Soyoz. Click here for one his decent goals ..http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222170447837893. Scuba never looking troubled however did comp a few in the second half as Froosh looked to have been making a come back, however just not enough juice in em to get them those vaulable goals as there fate was sealed by a late goal to Dazza Reynolds a few minutes from full time, click here for his goal http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222170101171261 . Final score was 4-2 to Scuba FC ..

9:00pm Snipers vs Last Place : Last Place starting positive and scoring first in this game , click here for the goalhttp://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222553974466207, as the SNipers started off very unsteadily, this has been a trend in recent games, however were able to get there momentum back as they came back soon after with a goal from Kutty after a great reflexive assist from Ibrahim, click to view goal http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222507091137562. The game was going in a balance until the controversial penalty came in the second half. The incident was recorded and can be viewed from this link , http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222482594473345 . To add to this misery the penalty was turned into a goal from Arif, click here to see the goal http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=222248111163460 . Last Place a bit unlucky there as it seems the benefit of a doubt went against them. From there on Snipers gaining control of the game as Last Place seemed to have lost morale.Final goal from Atalay, sealed the fate and decided the final score 3-1 to the Snipers which carries them to second just behind HCN.

Another great round and looking forward to seeing you guys next week.

Things getting real interesting in Div 2 with top teams again losing points ensuring a more balanced looking table.Team of the week Scuba FC upsetting Those guys in a thriller while game of the week was no doubt the game between Spray N Wipe and the Black Eagles. Not to say the other two games were boring, both ending in a draw. The Internationals getting their third draw of the season, very unusual after only 5 rounds and Froosh finally get points on the table after their BYE.

Game 1. Spray N Wipe vs Black Eagles : The Battle of 4th vs 5th was always going to be an entertaining matchup, but nobody expected the match to develop into an absolute classic contest between two evenly matched sides. The Black Eagles came out firing early and netted their first goal through Johnny Kelesh less than 90 seconds into the match. Seeking to create a clear gap between the top 4 and the rest of the competition the Black Eagles doubled their advantage soon after, a miscommunication at the back by Spray n Wipe and the Black Eagles swooped, making a decisive intercept then pouncing on the loose ball and tapping it the empty net (This goal is viewable at http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=219288118126126 courtesy of Futsal Homebush.) Spray n Wipe struggled to maintain possession as the Eagles continued to look threatening in front of goal, maintaining good periods of possession with fast paced passing in their attacking third. In the closing minutes of the first half Matthew Zappia hit a firm strike through traffic which found the net and gave Spray n Wipe confidence into the break. The change of ends brought about a sustained stalemate, with both goalkeepers performing admirably. The frequent switches and unique keeping styles of the Black Eagles pressured spray n wipe who had a shot hit both posts before bouncing out to safety, meanwhile at the other end Kyse Areda came up with a quality low save one on one to deny the Black Eagles. An incredible turn of speed saw Tom ‘Ronaldo’ Lok get in behind the defence and square it up for David Astalosh to bring the scores level at 2-2. This sparked an intense futsal frenzy as the Black Eagles re-established their lead immediately with a skilful trick creating space for an amazing finish to hit the top corner at the back post from a very, very narrow angle. From that ensuing kickoff Oskar Frankl ran direct to and scored yet another equaliser, cancelling out the eagles magical moment only seconds before. With 3 goals in less than a minute, the action was suddenly nonstop and the atmosphere was electric. It would not stop there though, the Eagles pushed forward again seeking to wrestle back the momentum only to be broken against, finally a pass found its way around the goalkeeper and Francis Basbas hammered home. Tom lok scored from long range in the final stages, establishing a two goal cushion for the men in white, as they capped off a tremendous comeback in a match that was entertaining from the first whistle. Final result Spray n Wipe 5 defeated Black Eagles 3. Match report compliments of David Astalosh

Game 2. Hard Core Noobs vs Last Place: Last place met the leaders HCN hoping to change their luck, while HCN wanted to shake that bitter draw from last week. HCN bagging the 1st goal thanks to John Ahn after a nice piece of play. Ahn added another one minutes later and completed his brace, this time no dodgy match report to deny his glory. After the second goal HCN parked the bus and resorted to aimless long balls. last Place took advantaged and scored one back. HCN scored the third goal, but it was disallowed due to an “alleged push”. The unavoidable was yet to come, Last Place scored after the HCN keeper was left against 2 players. last Place unlucky not to win it at the end, an effort hitting the post, and alleged hand ball claims “wiped away” by the ref. At the end, déjà-vu for HCN, their second 2-2 in a row after a 2-0 lead in what is a very tight top 4. Match report compliments of Basil Turk

Game 3:Scuba FC vs Those Guys Again: Absolute ripper of a game, Those looking dominant in the first half, playing an unusually physical game, accumulating their five fouls in the first half however being spared the the 6th foul before the end of the game. A controversial goal by Jason after a slide at the keeper and then a nice worked goal volleyed in by David TSe gave Those Guys the early lead, however Scuba coming back strong with a great left footed strike by prodigy Sinan Soyoz. The game continued at the same ferocious pace in the second half with both teams getting physical at times , some great ball play and some chances missed until a great worked goal by the Old Fella Darren Reynolds gave Scuba the lead about 5 minutes from full time.A minute later Darren Reynolds sent off for fouling the player without the ball, making it the first red card of the tournament. Scuba defending frantically in the last few minutes defended their 3-2 win, while those Guys are in danger of falling into a slump losing two in a row.

Game 4: Internationals vs Snipers: Internationals starting positive and confident, developing a well structured and in control game were able to start the game well on top scoring three consecutive goals, 2 of them to Timmy Collins, one of them can be viewed by clicking on to this link http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=219328571455414 . First half finished with the Internationals up 3-0 and the Snipers looking like they were in acceptance of the loss. Snipers starting the second half with a more physical approach, too physical at times and very lucky to get away with some of them as the referee very eager to get out of their in his last game of the night maybe had lost concentration a little. The Internationals getting frustrated with the referee forgetting the golden rule of the game which is “play the whistle” soon lost their concentration as well allowing front man Kutluhan Yilmaz to score a hat trick. Final score was 3-3 , making it the third draw for the Internationals.

A round that saw the top teams lose points , so this weeks table looks a bit more balanced. Team of the week was the Cable Jockeys upsetting the Drama Queens who have dropped a few places while Adem Yatkin continues his lead in the race for the golden boot.Last Place Gumbies also managing to rip a point off first place comers Any Given Monday which really tell you a lot about the balance of the comp.Until now only in the English Premier League can bottom place comers upset the balance at the top … This draw meant that there are no teams left on 0 points.

Game 1. Drama Queens vs Cable Jockeys- played out a tough match that in the end, lacked real punch and never really hit its peak. The Cable Jockeys used their physical size to subdue the usual brisk and fluent Drama Queen’s attack early on, and it was a tight first half with the Cable Jockeys going in at the half 3 -2 up. An inspired and determined goal from Sam Griffith from the Drama Queens early in the 2nd bought it back to 3 – 3, but 2 quick fire goals from the Jockeys 6 minutes into the 2nd half gave them a 5 -3 lead. This took the wind out of the Drama Queens sails and espite several chances at both ends with the woodwork getting well worked over, the score line remained till the final whistle. Match report compliments of Ming Chang.

Game 2. Any Given Monday vs Gumbies:

With Any Given Monday missing some key personnel, including star keeper Boutros Hanna, and stalwarts Fannous and Gobi, they knew they would be in for a tough battle with the Gumbies. The match proceeded at a steady pace, with neither side stamping their authority early on. Some nice passing play was constructed by both sides, but neither could thread the final and definitive pass. Finally midway through the first half, Shabaka took the game by the scruff of it’s neck with one of his signature dissecting runs ending with a back heel across goals to Markorious who made no mistake. 1-0. The Gumbies were out to show that they were not to be treated as mere green clay humanoid figures, and quickly capitalised on a defensive lapse from Any Given Monday with a marauding forward run and accurate shooting. 1-1. With victory in sight, both teams began to fight for the inches. Excellent build up play from Girgis and Yassa put Masterson and Shabaka in with a brilliant counter-attacking opportunity, a forward-going pass form Shabaka put Masterson in a 50-50 situation with the Gumbies last man. Fighting for that inch, Masterson slipped the ball through defensive legs and poked past the keeper. 2-1. Any Given Monday continued the attacking on-slaught but were unable to string the final pass and took too many wayward shots. The Gumbies again showed their counter-attacking prowess capitalising on the malpositioned opposition defense to fire home into the top left hand corner. 2-2.

With the start of the second half, both teams had three points in sight. A few unsuccessful individual efforts from both sides early on made clear that whichever team could pass and move, would dominate. Both sides moved the ball well, however both also had their share of unforced errors giving the ball away cheaply. It was anyone’s game. Despite excellent passing from Shabaka and Masterson, and the deft runs from Markorious and Daniel, Any Given Monday could not break the deadlock. Stinging shots from Shabaka were saved seemlessly by the Gumbies Schwarzeresque goal-keeper, clearly not your average malleable green clay figure. At the other end of the field, the Gumbies attacked with numbers, only to be utterly denied by the wall-like defensive play and aerial strength of Girgis, Yassa, and a locum goal-keeper. Gumbies struck the left upright post several times making a case for it to be voted as Any Given Monday’s MVP for the game. Two controversial penalties were awarded to the Gumbies late in the second half but they were unable to convert. In the dying seconds the Gumbies stuck together like clay to resist accurate shooting from Markorious and Masterson. Play by play these teams found themselves constantly one half step too late or too early, one half second too soon or too late, neither of them quite making it. The game ended a deserved 2-2.Match Report compliments of Matt Masterson.

Game 3. Expendables vs Commsec United. Coming back from a week off Commsec United came out all guns blazing, full of energy, both in team play and one on one situations taking on the Expendables who on the other hand were psychologically distraught from last rounds 7-1 loss to Any Given Monday. Commsec soon capitalised on their speedy approach taking first blood. Expendables realizing they must put emphasis on defense to avoid another embarrassment quickly shut down their defense, sucking Commsec well into their half. Some great counter attack play soon ensured the Expendables got on the board through new recruit Shaddy Baddah. Lifting the psychological weight off their shoulder the Expendables got their old self confidence back with Captain Paul Siggers scoring another two and Gary Campbell assisting with the 4th goal of the game. First half closed 4-1 in favor of the expendables. Commsec came out in the second half with a ferocious attack however some stubborn defensive work by Expendables defensive duo Peter and Damir were impossible to crack, soon Commsec gave up and the game opened up to the Expendables who started a love affair with the goal posts. Not able to capitalize on nearly half a dozen chances the game finished 4-1 as it was in the first half.

Game 4- Power Rangers vs Chugglaz . The Thainamite Chugglaz again in a close one, neck to neck all the way however in the end even the theatrical goal keeping from Will Chen unabale to stop a double from that scoring machine Adem Yatkin, a third super goal from half way coming from Georgie Mitagovski. Although they are currently not doing to well the Chugglaz are shaping up to being one of the most exciting teams with all their games finishing with very close score lines.Power Rangers currently second on the ladder enjoying their most successful season yet.Final score 3-2 to the Chugglaz.

A special thanks to Ming Chang and Matt Masterson this week for their contributions in the match reports.

Happy to be back from a Monday night off which felt like a month off, the competition lost none of its excitement. This weeks round saw some of the top teams lose points while others were desperate to add to their tallies to avoid being left behind in the race for top 4. Leaders Those Guys lose to Spray Wipe while Hard Core Noobs drew with the Internationals meaning the middle group in the table just got a little closer to the top.

Game 1: Black Eagles vs Last Place: In the first game of the division Black Eagles started uneasy, not having any subs on the bench meant they had to reserve energy while also trying to get a head start in case they slowed down at the end. It looked liked the strategy worked for Eagles who got off to a great start going into a few goals advantage in the second half, first half closed at 3-1 in favour of the Eagles, looking real tired. Last place started the second half brilliantly getting a goal back, one magnificent strike from Leonard Tognini from close to half way saw a response from an equally brilliant strike at goal from John Keles. The game looked to go any way at that stage however a late goal by the Eagles sealed their victory. Leonard getting a hat trick for Last Place, while John Keles was the man for the Eagles with his 2 great goals. Final Score 5-3 to the Black Eagles.

Game 2, Those Guys Again vs Spray N Wipe: Those Guys came out of the blocks firing looking to impose themselves on the match early but found themselves up against a Spray n Wipe side who retained quality possession and mounted some early pressure of their own. The breakthrough came after sustained pressure from the men in white as the ball fell to Tom Lok whose powerful strike gave the keeper no chance. Those Guys immediately responded by pushing forward in greater numbers but were would pay the ultimate price, a thunderous tackle dispossessed Those Guys mid-court and a precision pass after the turnover found Jake Hawken who easily slotted home. The second half was dominated by Those Guys with Spray n Wipe creating minimal chances on the break. Those Guys cut the deficit in half with a classy finish after a quality build up and continued to pepper the goal of Spray n Wipe striking the crossbar and the upright. In the dying seconds a Those Guys’ sideline kick-in sailed into the top corner of the goal however was ruled out as the kick-in was untouched. The call meant Spray n Wipe held on for a famous victory over their more fancied opponents.Final score 2-1 to Spray n Wipe . Match report compliments of David Astalosh

Game 3, Internationals vs Hard Core Noobs: The Internationals playing without subs were the impressive side in this game, all though feeling a bit jilted before the game due to not having any subs, they put on a great performance in both attack and defense, playing more of a defensive game ,patiently waiting for HCN to make errors. HCN shaping up as one of the teams on the watch list in this tournament gave back as much as they got, although probably did’nt expect such resilience from the 5 man internationals. All though expecting to win this one helped by a double from Louis Dolores HCN can still boast after the game as being the only team left without a lost in the tournament after round 4. The highlight of the game , came from the Internationals goal Keeper Claudio who came out of his goals and ended up scoring for the Internationals, in which other than the pray N Wipe victory over Those Guys was definitely the game of the night in this division. Final Score 2-2

Game 4, Snipers vs Froosh: After losing their opener against HCN the Snipers continue their winning streak, this time against Froosh who seem to be lacking motivation.Froosh the only team left on the table to not add a point to there tally had their opportunities but couldnt capitalise most of the time, things just not going their way, while the Snipers led by the Energiser Bunny Atalay, ran away with the game convincingly. A double from him and Arif secured the 4-1 and the three points.

Scuba FC Had the Bye in this one

7:00pm last Place vs Spray N Wipe - Spray n Wipe vs last place began at a high pace with action moving from end to end. Last place scored early and then consolidated their lead with a wonder strike that left the keeper stranded across the face of the helpless goalkeeper. Down 2-0 Spray n wipe with no reserves were back in the contest at half time as matthew zappia scored a goal of the season contender, from some distance with his back to goal he struck a thunderous volley into the roof of the net. The second half saw spray n wipe score two counter attacking goals and then hang on for the win with last place struggling to get a decent shot on target.Match report courtesy of David Astalosh.

9:00pm Those Guys vs Internationals - Those Guys again won a very entertaining game. There were moments of extended possession periods by the Internationals, but the defense of Those Guys were just able to hold them out. Those guys approached the game with a patient approach and track back quickly when Internationals threated on the counter. Internationals were not able to captalise the numerous free kicks for foul violation commited by Those guys. Those guys took the lead early courtesy of a well hit direct free kick by Jason, and and a goal a piece by Tim and Ung wrapped up the 3 points in the 2nd half. Match report courtesy of David Tse

9:40pm Snipers vs Scuba FC: Scuba starting off brilliantly scoring two goals in 2 minutes from kick off through Pryo and Darren, looking sharp and dangerous .The Snipers quickly shrugged off the shock and got their defenses back in order, the game slowed down with both teams very carefull not to make mistakes however a foul committed by Scuba FC just outside the box gave Snipers their first goal. In the second half Scuba could not capitalise on many of their attacks , Snipers equalising through Ibrahim Anmak early on and finishing off with Atalay close to full time took the game 3-2.

It brought to mind Scuba FC’s start to last seasons semi final against the Razorbacks where they got off to a 3-0 start in 3 minutes and ended up losing the game. Scuba deffinately needing to balance their game if they are to stay in contention in this tournament. They certainly have the talent however need to work on strategy.

10:20pm Black Eagles vs Froosh: In this late nighter The Black Eagles took on Froosh , the Black Eagles getting off to a great start , leading 3-0 at one stage however Froosh eager to get themselves back in the game soon fought back to make it 3-2. Froosh could have extended their lead however innability to finish what looked to be some certain chances gave way for the Eagles to counter attack and take advantage of the lapses in defence, capitalising on error the Eagles got another two through Johnny Kelesh. A brilliant fourth goal to Froosh got them back in the game ensuring a dramatic ending however a very tired Eagles holding on in the end.Final score 5-4 to the Eagles.

The Hard Core Noobs had the Bye
