More interesting twists and turns on the ladder after round 7. With HCN finally giving in and losing their first game of the season to Those Guys, every team has now tasted defeat. Black Eagles coming back to their sense after looking to fall into a slump, thumping Scuba, The Snipers frustrated by a young an enthusiastic Spray N Wipe going down after enjoying few rounds of success and Internationals much more content with their game downing a hapless Froosh who are still yearning for a win.
Game 1. Scuba FC vs Black Eagles:
The teams lined up last night with Scuba being favourites to make it 3 in a row following some great results the following two weeks with Black Eagles showing promise but lack of consistency with results since the seasons commencement. A lack of concentration/respect from scuba and an excellent display of counter attacking futsal seen the eagles take an astounding 4 goal opening lead within 10 minutes. Scuba looked shell shocked and could not manage to open their scoring account in the 1st half as the Black Eagles added another goal after their opening blitz to make it 5-0 at half time.
After the break, Scuba flew out of the gates with great one two combinations between Sinan and Julian. Despite a number of one on one opportunities, Sinan who has been in the mood of late could not capitalise, hitting the post and coming agonisingly close on a number of occasions. It took till mid way through second half for scuba to score, Julian Baumbach letting rip a shot —->http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225380047516933 after the Black Eagles sat off him allowing him too much room.
Celebrations were short lived as within 2 minutes, Black eagles re-established their 5 goal buffer to make it 6-1 through this goal —-> http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225190180869253. Scuba was further rewarded for their attacking style with a great individual goal from Julian yet again —>http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225389030849368 , taking on the whole team and smacking it past the keeper to make it 6-2. However it was to be the Black eagles who would have the last say in the match with another display of how dangerous they are on the counter making the final score 7-2. Black Eagles playing their best game of the season. Match report compliments of Julian Baumbach
Game 2: Internationals vs Froosh: After what they would call a lousy start to the season, also suffering some unlucky moments the Internationals finally starting to show what they are really made of.PLaying a great team game, which i must say , seemed to lack in the weeks gone by the Internationals inserted their dominance in this game and had control all the way. Allthough Froosh at times looked to come back through some inspirational work from Gareth Catron who got his double, the Internationals never looked to be troubled. A double for both big front Man Nick Mawer and Ace play maker Farhad Fattahi ensured the three points and relief after some recent stressful times.
Game 3: Spray N Wipe vs Snipers:
This matchup was a midtable clash between two sides eager to prove they deserve to be in the top half of the ladder. The game began with a bang as spray n Wipe immediately peppered the Snipers goal with quality runs from the backcourt creating matchup problems for the Snipers defenders. Matthew Zappia stole a poor clearance and neatly slotted the ball in the corner of the goal for the game’s opener. Snipers responded with some pressure of their own and were rewarded as Mehmet Sanli hammered home from distance with the outside of his right foot, http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=225398327515105. The equaliser would be immediately cancelled out by Spray n Wipe, scoring straight from the ensuing kickoff. A delightful lob found Oskar Frankl behind the defensive line and he calmly tapped the ball past the goalie and into the net. The Third goal of the match was scored as David Astalosh intercepted a Snipers crosscourt pass, took a long touch and then scored from a tight angle one on one with the keeper. The teams went to the break at 3-1 and this is how the score would remain, as the game degenerated into a physical encounter. Both teams were creating chances in attacking positions however were wasteful and unable to convert any opportunities. The gallant Snipers fought till the final whistle but were unable to find the back of the net, final score Spray n Wipe 3 defeating Snipers 1.Match report compliment of David Astalosh
Game 4: Those Guys Again vs Hard Core Noobs:
The leaders HCN headed into the game as the favorites with a full strength squad. ‘Those Guys’ were missing influential Giuseppe & Eric Cho under a sickness cloud. The latter was able to make the bench late on.
The game stared off as a cagey affair, a nasty fall from first choice HCN defender ‘Tube’ landing awkwardly which required a reshuffle momentarily
‘Those Guys’ picked up the pace and opened the scoring from some neat interplay via Andrewfer neat tap-in from a David Ung setup.
An awkward moment from ‘Those Guys’ David Tse at the back playing the ball out during the 2nd half almost went punished by HCN but David Tse was able to recover.
A fantastic solo goal by Eric Cho —>http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=225167924204812 , which seemed to create a buzz on the Futsal Homebush Facebook site gave ‘Those Guys’ a 2-0 lead. HCN almost got back into the game through a low drive by John Anh but Bien was down smartly to divert it away
